1News Special — "You, Me, And..." Series

Brand & Motion Graphics Package, 2025 - Present

Some stories are too big for a single headline. These two 1News specials, both hosted by Jack Tame, took a deep dive into the economic realities shaping New Zealand — and the lives of the people living them.

"You, Me & The Economy" brought together experts, business leaders, and everyday Kiwis to unpack inflation, wages, and productivity in front of a live studio audience. The client wanted something modern and fresh — a deliberate departure from the usual corporate newsroom aesthetic, with a more relaxed and conversational feel. This shaped a purple-dominant palette built around multiple tiles framing imagery of how people earn and spend in their daily lives, authoritative enough to carry the subject matter without aligning to any political party.

Following its success, "You, Me & Aussie" expanded the conversation across the Tasman, asking whether the money and lifestyle really add up for Kiwis considering a move to Australia. The format evolved to include remote participants joining via Zoom, casting their vote live on whether to stay or go. The visual system adapted with it, shifting to an earthy palette of green, red, and yellow inspired by the cultures and landscapes of both countries.

Across both shows I was responsible for the full visual direction — logo and title sequence, brand identity, motion graphics package, and on-air studio videowall design. The system was built to be flexible and adaptable from the start, allowing the second show to inherit the same visual logic while carving out its own distinct identity.

Project breakdown coming soon! In the meantime, check out the show through links below:
